HealthGuard: Empowering Secure and Efficient Healthcare Access

In today's digital age, access to healthcare services is no longer just about convenience; it’s also about ensuring security and efficiency. With the rise of telemedicine and the increasing demand for remote healthcare solutions, ensuring the privacy of patient information and delivering healthcare efficiency has become paramount. HealthCloud offers a comprehensive solution that empowers secure and efficient healthcare access for both patients and providers alike.

By leveraging a secure and reliable portal, patients can easily access healthcare information, learn about their medical conditions, and stay informed about preventive measures. This not only encourages proactive engagement in their own health but also fosters a stronger patient-provider relationship based on mutual understanding and shared decision-making.

Hackathon participants with the Savannah Team

On June 30th, 2023, we had the pleasure of hosting a HealthCloud Hackathon themed ‘HealthGuard: Empowering Secure and Efficient Healthcare Access’. We were thrilled to welcome some of the brightest young minds in the country to participate in this exciting event. The stage was set for an exhilarating day as the participants eagerly gathered and settled in by 9:00 am on that Friday morning. To ensure everyone was on the same page, a brief presentation on the REST APIs and the HealthCloud platform was conducted, bringing newcomers up to speed.

Energized and armed with knowledge, the attendees formed teams, ready to showcase their skills and collaborate on innovative solutions related to the given problem statement. With a maximum of five members per team, the participants demonstrated remarkable teamwork, pooling their expertise in brainstorming and building impressive solutions throughout the day. As the hackathon drew to a close, we were presented with 4 insightful ideas. Let's take a closer look at the solutions that emerged from this event.

Team Health Chain during their presentation

Team Health Chain

The team focused on the existing challenges faced by the insurance industry in verifying member eligibility, ensuring secure authentication, friction payment processes, and preventing over-utilization of coverage limits. The use of manual processes and outdated systems results in inefficiencies, errors, and compromised data security.

Here is what the team came up with:

  • Verification - Incorporating robust member verification mechanisms through blockchain-based identity authentication and secure access protocols.

  • Authentication - Securing authentication through advanced encryption protocols and blockchain technology.

  • Payments-FT-backed policies, fractional settlements, and collateralized insurance provide flexible payment options, increased liquidity, and enhanced financial inclusivity.
