Savannah Informatics Co-founder Dr. Justus Kilonzi Paul spoke to Connecting Africa Associate Editor Matshepo Sehloho at Africa Tech Festival 2025 about how the company streamlines health and insurance processing.
The startup delivers interoperable, connected software solutions for healthcare service providers and consumers.
He said that even though data is leveraged in decision making in other sectors, Savannah Informatics is building digital public infrastructure to ensure the information rails in healthcare go in the same direction.
"The more data flows, the more we are able to have data that informs policy, governance, pricing and quality of care," he explained.
He said the company uses technology for awareness, screening and care, so that it can help detect women at risk before they develop breast cancer.
He also spoke about the transitions happening in the healthcare sector in Africa, the importance of climate-resilient healthcare practices and explained the company's origin story.
