The Backend Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining the server-side logic that powers our applications, ensuring that our systems are reliable, scalable, secure, and responsive. The role will involve working closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to build and improve features that meet business and user needs.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software engineering, enjoys solving complex problems, is curious about technology, and can quickly learn and adapt to new concepts and systems.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Developing efficient and scalable backend code in line with established coding standards and business requirements.

  2. Enhancing existing backend systems through refactoring, optimization, debugging, and continuous improvement.

  3. Developing and maintaining APIs, including REST and GraphQL, and collaborating with frontend developers to integrate backend services with user-facing applications.

  4. Implementing new features and functionality while considering user requirements, system compatibility, performance, and maintainability.

  5. Translating business and user requirements into effective technical solutions in collaboration with product managers and cross-functional teams.

  6. Developing and maintaining unit tests, integration tests, end-to-end tests, and automated testing suites to ensure the reliability, stability, and quality of the backend codebase.

  7. Working with databases to develop and maintain schemas, queries, and data structures that effectively support business processes.

  8. Integrating backend systems with internal components and external services, ensuring reliable data exchange and system interoperability.

  9. Contributing to technical documentation, code reviews, and engineering best practices to support maintainable and collaborative software development.

  10. Continuously learning and sharing knowledge while staying up to date with relevant backend technologies, tools, security practices, and development trends.

Skills and Competencies

The ideal candidate for this position should have the following:

  1. Strong software engineering and system design fundamentals, with an understanding of how to build reliable, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions.

  2. Solid backend development experience, preferably using Golang and/or Python.

  3. Strong understanding of API design principles, including REST and GraphQL, with the ability to develop well-structured and efficient APIs.

  4. Familiarity with relational databases, SQL, and ORM libraries, including the ability to design database schemas that support business processes.

  5. Experience integrating backend systems with other applications, services, and external APIs, with an understanding of event-driven programming and asynchronous processing.

  6. Understanding of security and compliance best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.

  7. Experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality, system reliability, and application stability.

  8. Proficiency with Git and version-control practices, with the ability to work effectively within a collaborative development environment.

  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand existing codebases, troubleshoot issues, break down complex problems, and develop practical technical solutions.

  10. Strong learning and collaboration skills, including the ability to quickly understand complex domains, work independently while collaborating effectively with others, receive and apply feedback, communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues, and stay current with evolving technologies.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in software development and programming.

  • Proficiency in at least one backend programming language, preferably Golang or Python.

  • Good understanding of relational databases and SQL.

  • Familiarity with Linux and common software development environments.

  • Experience working with version control systems such as Git.
