Role Overview

We are seeking a Junior Product Designer to join our Product Development team.

In this role, you will support product discovery, user research, and design execution across healthcare systems and workflows. You will help translate user needs into clear user journeys, flows, and prototypes, and collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality products.

This role is ideal for someone early in their design career who enjoys solving complex problems, thinking in systems, and designing with users, constraints, and real-world environments in mind.

How We Approach Design at Savannah

Design at Savannah is not about decoration, it is about solving real healthcare problems clearly, safely, and at scale.

We value designers who:

  • Think in systems, states, and flows; not just screens

  • Can explain why a design decision was made

  • Are comfortable working closely with engineers, product managers, and health professionals

  • Care about clarity, usability, accessibility, and edge cases

  • Document their thinking so others can build with confidence

Designers work within a clear design leadership structure to ensure consistency, quality, and strong decision-making across products.

Responsibilities

User Research & Discovery

  • Assist in gathering user requirements through stakeholder collaboration and research activities

  • Participate in brainstorming and design discussions to explore and improve product features

  • Support market and competitive research to inform product decisions

User Journeys & Prototyping

  • Create user journeys and flows that clearly represent user goals, system states, decision points, edge cases, and fallbacks

  • Wireframe and design high-quality prototypes using modern design tools

  • Iterate on designs based on feedback from users and internal teams

Validation & Quality

  • Support developer handoff, user testing and validation activities

  • Assist in ensuring design quality and alignment with product and organizational goals

  • Contribute to design QA during development and release cycles

Documentation & Templates

  • Document design decisions, assumptions, and trade-offs

  • Help develop and maintain reusable templates and design assets

  • Ensure documentation supports product, engineering, and QA teams

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with designers, product managers, and engineers throughout the product lifecycle

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including standups, sprint planning, grooming, and reviews

  • Communicate progress, blockers, and dependencies clearly

  • Demonstrate ownership, teamwork, and a willingness to learn and grow

Tools & Workflow

You will work with:

  • Figma, Canva and Adobe Creative Suite for design and prototyping

  • Jira and Confluence for task tracking and sprint planning

  • GitLab for collaboration with engineering teams

  • Agile/Scrum workflows

You do not need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable working within a software development environment.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field

  • Relevant certifications (UX & UI Design, Product Design, Design Thinking, Product Management) are a plus

Experience

  • Experience as a design intern, assistant designer, or junior designer

  • A portfolio demonstrating product design, UX/UI work, or relevant coursework

  • Exposure to user research and requirements gathering

  • Experience collaborating with developers is an advantage

  • Familiarity with Agile teams and tools such as Jira is an advantage

Skills

  • Strong understanding of UX and UI fundamentals, including hierarchy, feedback, accessibility, usability, colour, typography, and layout

  • Ability to reason about UI states and microinteractions (default, empty, loading, error, success)

  • Foundational knowledge of design thinking: research, discovery, validation, prototyping and testing

  • Basic project coordination and stakeholder communication skills

  • Good documentation habits and attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced healthcare environment

We value clear thinking and reasoning over polished visuals. Case studies that explain decisions, constraints, and trade-offs are strongly encouraged.
